It was my first time so I was really nervous
We both lay down
And he asked me quietly to mount him
I had never done this before so I didn’t know what to expect
But it was a lot more gentle than I thought it would be
That was Friday, my first introduction to Brazilian Jujitsu
I’ve taken it up to learn and entirely new skill
Something, as you can tell, is taking me way outside my comfort zone
Rolling around on a mat with another man isn’t something I’m accustomed to
But what I’ve learned so far is you don’t need to be strong or use a huge amount of force
In fact the less you try to force it the easier it is to take someone down or flip them over
And herein lies today’s lesson
Maybe you’re forcing things too much and that’s why you can’t seem to get the results you want
Or why it feels like you’re not ready to commit to personal training

Because you think it’s gonna be all or nothing or too hard
Or you don’t have enough time
But when you do the personalised assessment

You’ll realise there is a much simpler way of getting the results you want
John ‘mounted’ O’C
P.S. I’m really nervous about my first proper session later today
But thankfully I found out long ago
Uncomfortable feelings like this are part and parcel of growing.
When you want a result as much as you do it’s normal to feel that way
And if this is how you’re feeling about coming in to SF Fitness
That’s exactly what you should do
